I apologize for not "blogging" recently. We have been busy!!! Russ has been traveling a lot and is currently on his way across the Atlantic for a week in London. We already miss him terribly! Of course, Drew has been walking around the house saying "dada" nonstop, so I tell him that Daddy is working, just in case he understands....
Last weekend was a big one for us.....Russ and I attended the Bal du Bois at the Country Club of Virginia. I was in a long, navy silk dress and Russ looked very dapper in a tux and bowtie. It was a lot of fun and definitely a huge change of pace for us. We also went to Drew's bestfriend's birthday party, where Drew refused to go into any of the baby pools. Every party needs a pooper, and Drew decided to be it! Sunday morning we volunteered at our church's Lemonade on the Lawn and Drew helped entertain all his fellow parishoners.....Then Sunday afternoon we headed over to the University of Richmond to have our family pictures taken. We only have access to a few of the shots just yet, but I LOVE THEM!!!!!! We will certainly treasure them for years to come, and having U of R in the background just makes them all the more special. We were fortunate enough to have my Dad down for a couple days this past week to help us paint the downstairs of our house. For those of you who have seen our house, I wanted it to be the color green from our Williams & Sonoma plates and we did just that five years ago! I loved it and really enjoyed the color, but after my maternity leave, I knew it just had to go. We actually had been contemplating moving and upgrading this summer (with the interest rates so low and the inventory so broad), but decided it was too much hassle, so painting seemed a simpler and cheaper solution. Thank you so much, Dad, for all your help! We love it. (I will post some pictures of the new "neutral" home soon.) The tan is very soothing and really lightens up the rooms. It does not help store away all of Drew's plastic, but it is a nice change.
With Russ tucked away on the plane, Drew and I headed to Saxon shoes this afternoon for his first pair of big-boy shoes. He is walking really well now, and we rarely see him crawl, so I figured it was time to get some shoes for when he is outdoors. Of course, he now wants to walk everywhere we go and no longer thinks the stroller is so much fun, which can be pretty annoying at times. I am hopeful that he will continue to tolerate his stroller in the evenings so that I can continue to run with him in the neighborhood. Otherwise, I will be in tough shape! Drew started screaming as soon as his foot was placed in the measuring tool and gave the ladies there a bit of a challenge, but within a half hour or so we got a cute pair of leather sandals for him to wear this summer. I had to get sandals because his feet are so STINKY! It is amazing that someone so little could have so much funk....After a couple more failed attempts in the stores, he enjoyed toddling around Short Pump in his new kicks and gazing at the fountains. Definitely not the shopper, but we had a good time.
