New York City in 36 Hours

Hudson River Harbor
Getting some late night sweets!
Fireworks on the Upper West Side
Brian and Janet
Bri and I after the fireworks

I flew to NYC for a very quick trip over the Forth of July weekend to see my younger brother, Brian, and to get some needed "me" time. It was a great trip, both for the ability to only take care of myself, and for the opportunity to hang out with Brian and his girlfriend, Janet. This was a big step for me since it was my first time away from Drew for longer than a few hours. (I don't know if our Valentine's Day night at the Westin in Richmond really counted....)
I was able to do a lot in NYC, including getting some great sushi on the Upper East Side and drinks in Time Square Friday night, followed by desert at this famous cafe on the upper West Side that was in You've Got Mail!. Bri and I started our Saturday morning right-with a 6 mile run in Central Park that was positively breathtaking! It felt great and was always something that I had aspired to do once in my lifetime, so that is now off the list (although I am itching to run there again). After a brief recovery period, we met up with Janet for lunch and shopping at Century 21 and then on to Soho. I was determined to find some cool things, and I was not disappointed. Then, since it was the 4th, we headed to Riverside Park for some drinks and fireworks. I could not believe that I was in Manhattan that night-the park was beautiful and it was great to have dinner right on the water. Unfortunately, I hopped off to the airport first thing Sunday morning, but I was ready to get home to my boys!
