With Dad in extra innings...

Last weekend we headed up to Maryland to see some family, take in some sights, and take Drew to his first Red Sox game. We managed to hit Bethesda, Annapolis, and Baltimore in 36 hours. Drew loved playing basketball with his second cousins and seeing all the Navy helicoptors around Annapolis. He slept in bed with Mom and Dad for the first time, and we could not believe how much he flops around! Any thoughts of him being ready for his big boy bed went out of Russ's head real quick:)
And then on Sunday, we headed to the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards. Unfortunately, Drew had now gone a couple days without any nap and it was 95 degrees, sunny and humid. We hadn't even made it through the National Anthem before Drew was whining to leave. This was supposed to be Russ's birthday present, and be a nice memory of him taking his son to his first Red Sox game....Maybe it wasn't to be. Afterall, we were supposed to do this last year, but I somehow threw away the tickets that my parents purchased for Russ for his birthday last year! Thankfully we had front row seats on the third base line and a pool of water was underneath our seats. Drew quickly discovered that if he sat in the puddle underneath Dad's legs that he was shaded from the sun and could stay cool at the same time. His first lemonade and an ice cream cup added to his comfort. Within a half hour or so, the sun headed behind some clouds and we all were able to enjoy the game. Although the Red Sox did not win, we had a great time and enjoyed quite a few laughs watching our little man, punch-drunk from sugar and fatigue, take in the game in his own way-pouring the ice cream over his head, lapping up the water from the puddle and drinking it, and giving Bunny a bath in the wastewater.
