Parties, Parties, Parties

Although May is so much fun hosting our own celebrations, sometimes it is even more fun to go to those of others. This weekend was a busy one for us, but very fun. It was also EXTREMELY hot, so we tried to find ways to stay cool.

Friday night there was a block party in our neighborhood to honor one of our neighbor's upcoming moves to Atlanta. Although it will be very sad to see them go, it was a great chance for us to be re-introduced to some of our other neighbors. I can not get over how friendly everyone is on our street, and we all had a blast. We did not see Drew the entire evening-as he was playing with the big kids. Although most of the kids are upper-elementary/middle school age on the street, they are so nice and always include him in their games. After the festivities, I even made it out to celebrate my old roommate's birthday at the Bare Naked Ladies concert! Although I felt very pregnant, it was great to get out again and to run into some old aquaintances.

Saturday was another hot one and Drew and I went over to his best buddy E's house to help him turn 2. Thankfully it was a water themed party and the kids got to splash and play. Although Drew could not be forced into the water last year, he quickly got the idea this time and even enjoyed the pool more once all the little kids were cleared out so he could do some running belly flops.

Since we started the weekend meeting new neighbors, we decided to end the weekend making dinner with our old neighbors. It was great to see them and Drew enjoyed storytime with a former elementary school teacher-I don't think he has ever had a story read to him with such enthusiasm before!

After all that partying, Drew had a big transition to tackle today-a new daycare classroom. Although it was a rough drop-off, he did great and came home talking about his new teachers and friends. It is great to have such a talkative kid-I felt like I actually knew what he did all day! Including who bit who and who he told "No sir!" to.... Hopefully he will have this transition complete by the time the big transition comes home:)
