Catch Up

It has been a very busy few weeks here at the Haskin household. We are preparing to move to our new home this week, and we have made more than our fair share of trips to Goodwill, Salvation Army, and the volunteer consignment shop. Believe it or not, we are moving into a bigger house with less storage....hmm.....Our fence has been approved, a storage shed is set to be delivered and the packers are coming tomorrow. Hopefully our mortgage has been approved too.....wish our banker would call us back, but this is what happens when you move around the holidays, right? Brady is all set to stay for a few days with one of our best friends and Drew is ready for the new adventure, or at least excited to know that his Mimi and Grandpa are coming down to play. Thankfully he will still be downtown at daycare for most of the "fun".

Drew has had a great couple of weeks. The latest clingy/separation phase is lifting and he is on to being Mr. Independent. Everyday he tries a new word and it is great hearing what comes out of his mouth! He is so proud of himself and LOVES to talk! He caught his first University of Richmond football game with the Heffners too, and seemed to like the ball. He is obsessed with balls and loves playing with Brady. I think he has also developed his first crush. He has had a few playdates with our friend Carol's daughter, Anna Jane or AJ for short, and he never stops mentioning "Aah Jay" whenever they leave. Quite the smitten little man!

Russ has been traveling quite a bit, but has been able to get back into tennis in his spare time. It is great to see him playing again. Maybe it will give me some inspiration to resume those lessons that my parents started for me years ago?

A few weeks ago I successfully finished my first half marathon and did great! It was a perfect morning to run-55 degrees and misting rain. Drew and Russ were on the course at different intervals cheering me on, and it just warmed my heart to see them out there supporting me. I actually got teary-eyed seeing all the dads and kids on the sidelines with their "Run, Mommy, Run" signs. It was a great race, and I even broke the 9 minute mile mark and finished in less than 2 hours-something I did not expect from my training.
